Day by day the growth of AI in different sectors is increasing. For example, AI in healthcare during the ongoing global pandemic, COVID-19, AI in the educational sector, AI in baking, etc.
In January 2020, Deloitte Centre for Health Solutions conducted a survey. The survey results that more than 80% of respondents have shown favor for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (AI/ML) as the topmost priority.
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare is increasing day by day. AI is used in the detection and prediction of certain diseases. It is also used to find out abnormality in CT scans of a certain disease. Apart from this, AI can also be used for recommending precise treatments.
Today most of the Type 1 diabetes patients are using Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) to get the real-time blood sugar readings and to determine the level of insulin dosage to consume further. All these data are uploaded into the cloud at regular intervals. Physicians examine the thus uploaded data and prescribe the required dosage and suggestions in the food diet plan. AI algorithm can this input to validate the physicians by recommending an accurate set of treatments.
Nowadays, since routine check-ups are not happening, this simple AI algorithm can be used for better recommendations of treatments for all conditions that required routine physician visits. Therefore, AI can also be used as a recommendation tool.
An AI service can listen to the patients’ conditions via chatbot or some other voice application. It asks a set of questions to understand the conditions of the patient, based on which it makes a basic hypothesis for diagnosis. The service then schedules an appointment with the most appropriate physician. Before the appointment, AI prepares the condition of the individual with accurate treatment recommendations. AI service can also act as a reminder of medication to the patients. It can improve the recommendation by continuously going through the data shared by the patient by consulting the physicians.
Even though it is an involving feature, the availability of cheaper data networks, data storage makes things easier. Cloud storage and information sharing have brought down the cost of computing infrastructure.
AI seems to be a good option in the future and in the current ongoing pandemic situation since most of the healthcare centers are stuffed with COVID-19 patients. In post-COVID-19 days, it is expected that AI would be dominating a major chunk in every industry.
